There is a new restaurant in town. Well, it’s not exactly in town – it’s south of Ruckersville – and it’s not exactly new – it’s about 5 months old. It’s Coppersmith’s Food and Spirits. We ate there last week and I was delighted with my experience.
The restaurant is located off Rt. 29 North, about halfway between Forest Lakes and Ruckersville, in the small shopping center with Dunkin’ Donuts and Holiday Inn Express. The post office address is actually Gordonsville. It is at the site of the old Hardwicke’s Restaurant.
The cozy restaurant is extremely well appointed, with lots of copper in the décor. It has a cozy ambience with a fully stocked bar and an outside dining area,
The menu is upscale, like Kelly’s in Nags Head
I ordered Calamari as an appetizer and it was top notch. Included in the lightly crusted dish were slices of fried lemon, a perfect compliment to the Calamari. We ate every morsel. Nancy ordered an Oyster Po’Boy with Chesapeake Bay oysters. She said it was good. I had their Shrimp and Grits. It was rich and delicious.
Other interesting entrees include Bangers and Mash, Lobster Mac and Cheese, Bacon Wrapped Salmon, Pretzel Crusted Mahi, Chicken and Waffles, Fish and Chips, House Smoked Meatloaf, Jambalaya, Stout Marinated Ribeye Steak and others. They also have burgers, wraps and salads.
The prices are extremely reasonable. My Shrimp and Grits was just $15. They don’t gouge and the wine and cocktails are also most affordable. Often restaurants will stick it to you when you order drinks, but not Coppersmith’s. I give them a solid thumbs up, it’s worth a visit.
Coppersmith’s Food and Spirits is locally owned and operated, not a chain. The restaurant opened in January 2018 and is located at 5924 Seminole Trail, Ruckersville. Call for details at 434-284-5763.
