Anytime Nancy and I are in the Tidewater area of Virginia, we manage to find our way to Bubba’s Seafood Restaurant on Shore Drive, north of Virginia Beach.
Bubba’s is a family-owned restaurant but started as a small bait and tackle shop over 30 years ago. Located on the water in Lynnhaven Inlet, Bubba’s began offering Crab Cakes and other seafood delicacies to their hungry tackle customers. Word got out and the bait shop soon became a full-fledged restaurant and has expanded several times over the years.
Their seafood is right-off-the-dock fresh and cooked perfectly. The owners are always on the premises. The husband is a commercial fisherman and often brings in the morning catch for a dinner special. That’s really fresh. His wife is constantly seating and checking on customers. The food is perfect, the service is spot on, they make the best Bloody Mary’s in Virginia, and they offer the finest water views in Virginia Beach.
We often stop in at lunch time as we did last week, and I went with my favorite -the Catch of the Sandwich. On that day, it was Fresh Rockfish, and it was wonderful. Nancy’s favorite is their Fried Oyster Po’boy. On rare occasions, after we have dined on seafood for a week on the Eastern Shore or on the Outer Banks, we’ll order their hamburgers as a change of pace, and there are none better.
If you are ever the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area and find yourself hungry, motor down to Bubba’s Seafood Restaurant at3323 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach and, like us, it will become your favorite place for great seafood.
