We’ve eaten out a half dozen or so times since Covid shut down our way of life, but it’s a little ironic. A restaurant these days is one of the safest places in the world. They do this 6-foot thing to an extreme and everything is routinely sterilized, including the wait staff. Well, not really, but they wear masks and gloves that would keep any germ at bay, and they are extremely conscientious about safety.
I had a birthday recently, and Nancy and I decided to hell with Covid, we would go out to dinner. Being a Monday, our choices were somewhat restricted as a number of restaurants are no longer open on Sundays and Mondays, and some are not open on Tuesdays. As a matter of fact, a number of them are closed for good, with more to follow. I did check with Bonefish Grill. They were open and delighted to be able to serve us.
Bonefish, I have found, is consistently excellent, and to me, consistency is most important when dining out. The last thing I want when eating out is a surprise. Will the waiter be professional or not? Will the steak be cooked correctly or not? Will I have to beg for a water refill or a shaker of salt? At Bonefish, the service is always good, the food prepared correctly and there are never any surprises. The past visit was no exception.
We ordered, as usual, Bang-Bang Shrimp as an appetizer. The bowl was piled high, the shrimp were cooked perfectly, the lettuce and sauce were spot on.
Nancy ordered Fish and Chips, which we never have at home. Hands down, Bonefish has the best Fish and Chips in town. Afterall, they’re a seafood restaurant and they know how to fry fish. The breading was light and crisp and the fish done perfectly.
I went for their Wood Grilled Scallops and Shrimp. It was delicious, especially with their made-in-house Pan Asian Sauce. For one of the sides, I ordered cole slaw and it was just right. Not sweet, not vinegary, just right and a perfect complement for the shrimp and scallops. The French Fries, as always, were hot, crisp and delicious. Everything was as you would expect.
Bonefish Grill. Consistently excellent.
