“Where do you want to go out to sat,” asked my wife, Nancy, last Saturday
“Riverside,” I thundered. I always “thunder” Riverside because I know Nancy would rather go most anyplace else. Then I mentioned a big basket of Riverside French Fries and she said the Onion Rings were better. Then, believe it or not, she said let’s do go to Riverside.
Burgers and grill food are a real treat for us because we usually don’t have that kind of food at home. I do my best to eat healthy – or at least healthier – so we eat tons of chicken, salmon and low-calorie stuff.
But soon we were off to Riverside North, and I was already beginning to drool.
My favorite burger there is one of their Smash Cheeseburgers with mustard and onions. I was hungry and thought about getting two, then decided (less bread) to just get one Double Cheeseburger. It turns out that they no longer do two smash burgers on a bun for a Double Cheeseburger. Rather, they combine two regular burgers and smash them into one huge burger, and it was sensational. Nancy had one, too, and we ordered a big platter of Fries mixed with Onion Rings and we ate every least crumb. The Double Smashburger was as good as it gets.
When someone comes from out of town, if they like burgers, I take them to Riverside for a unique experience. One appealing thing about Riverside is that when one of their cooks platters an order, he brings it immediately to the table. So, there’s never any “order up” where a meal languishes on the counter while the waitress is busy. It comes piping hot directly from the grill to you.
My Double Smash Cheeseburger and a slew of Fries and Onion Rings cost me a pound and a half on the scales the next morning, but it was worth every single ounce.
