On several occasions, Nancy and I have hopped in the car and headed for Liberty Mills Farm near Somerset in Orange County. It’s a lovely drive and we find many interesting things to do – like wind our way through a sprawling Corn Maze or pick a pint of two of fresh strawberries. Liberty Farms now has their annual Sunflower Festival underway with lots of food and fun and things to see and do.
The Festival kicks off on Friday August 22 and runs through Labor Day. There will be live music and food trucks (check the schedule of events and reserve tickets at libertymillsfarm.com)
The star of the show will be the huge sunflower patch with colorful blooms ready for picking. Other attractions include Locally Made Gifts, Photo Opportunities, Hay Wagon Rides, a Farmer’s Market, Strawberry/Lemonade Slushy Floats and Tractor Churned Homemade Ice Cream.
The Corn Maze, by the way, opens on September 13.
