Right before God kicked Satan out of heaven, the Devil said, “I’ll get even. Before I am confined to hell, I’ll make sure earth is a living hell. I’ll invent leaf blowers and jet skis.”
And the Evil One did.
It’s a beautiful fall afternoon. The maple trees are adorned in all their splendor, the humidity of summer is gone, and a gentle breeze makes for a perfect afternoon. Then, someone fires up a two-cycle gasoline engine leaf blower which can be heard from three counties away. The noise is deafening, unending and horrendous and makes folks hate that fall is even a season.
Worse, perhaps, is the roar of a jet ski scooting across what would be a peaceful lake on a relaxing summer afternoon. But wait, there is not one, but two jet skis as they hang around in packs, one chasing the other and causing small tidal waves to crash against the docks and shorelines. Finally, they zoom out of sight and the peace and quiet returns. Then, here they come again. Be-yump, be-yump, be-yump – bouncing across the wakes and destroying any semblance of peace and tranquility.
I think the Game Department should establish a hunting season for those using Leaf Blowers and Jets Skis. Both rifles and shotguns should be allowed, and the daily limit should be two a day and up to 15 per season. Why a limit? So that everyone can have the joy of blowing up what is truly the work of the Devil.
