Virginia Beach Action
It’s a good time to be at Virginia Beach. It may not be warm enough to lie in the sun on a beach blanket, but the fishing is red hot. Trout, drum, and rockfish are hitting in the surf and from the piers. Trout and drum are also active in the Hampton Roads area as well as in Northern Neck waters. Rockfish are keeping anglers busy in the Rappahannock, especially at night. When boats can … [Read more...]

Tom and I were big fishermen and somehow convinced our wives to go with us on a deep-sea adventure. They went, though Nancy got a bit sea-sick and Pat screamed bloody murder when thunder and lightning boomed all around us, but we were catching fish, so we stayed out in it. We … [Read more...]
Saltwater Action
By Dr. Ken Neill Wes Blow and I left my house dark and early this morning. We were met by a very bright UFO which turned out to be a Space X rocket launch. Beautiful ride to the wreck and things started out fine. I caught 3 tog and a sheepshead while Wes caught some sea bass and an oyster toad. I did not say a thing, which those that have togged with me may not believe. Things like, “ … [Read more...]
Saved By The Fishbites
We were on our way to Urbanna and hopefully a few days of good fishing. I have been hearing great reports on spot fishing and spot are among my favorite fish to deep-fry. As soon as we hit West Point, I saw a sign for blood worms, the bait of choice among spot fishermen and I quickly pulled in. “Sorry,” the lady said. “We are out of bloodworms and supplies have been spotty. Nobody has them. I … [Read more...]
Sea Bass Out, Tautogs In
Virginia anglers wrapped up another short February black sea bass season. When weather permitted access to the reefs and wrecks, bottom fishing for sea bass and tautog was good. Unfortunately our sea bass season is over, but the tautog season continues. There have been reports of decent speckled trout catches. Louis Glaser and Douglas Wilburn posted about a good bite on the Elizabeth … [Read more...]
