We have rabbits in our yard from time to time. We mostly see them in the spring and summer. They were once frequent visitors to my garden, but a tight mesh fence now keeps them at bay.
However, in the last few weeks I have seen one rabbit almost daily, munching along where I have scattered seeds for the birds. I have recently been tossing out scoopfuls of No Waste bird seed which includes small, cracked corn kernels, and I think that has attracted the rabbit. Last week when I went out to feed the birds, the rabbit was there, and he barely moved as I passed by. As soon as I left, he hopped over to the new supply of food and ate away. This morning – same thing. I walked within maybe five feet and he paid me no mind whatsoever, then pounced on the new food supply just as I left.
Usually, rabbits are skitzy and will hightail it when I get near. But not this one. I have named him Buggs, my pet rabbit. But I think maybe he’s adopted me as his pet human.
