It’s now official. Jeffrey E. Dill boated a 68 pound, 12 ounce flathead catfish on May 25 at Lake Smith, setting a new record for that species in Virginia. Neat Stuff: Patio Fans
Nancy and I are blessed with a sprawling, tree-shaded patio in our backyard. Cuke It Out
My wife Nancy and I are having a cucumber growing competition this summer and, so far, she’s way ahead. She planted three or four vines on the carport in large pots and has put up a couple 7 pound pickle batches so far. Nancy planted smaller, pickling cucumbers, which took off right away. Birds On a Golf Course
I played golf 4 times at Lake Norman last week. Two days were stifling hot and two days were glorious. I hit a few good shots and I hit lots of bad ones. The Doormats Have Arrived
Doormat flounder have arrived in the lower Bay. Large flounder are also being caught around seaside wrecks. Remember when fishing for flounder, the general rule is large baits attract large fish. Catfish Time at Lake Orange
Catfish don’t mind a little hot weather. Sometimes they feed later in the day or into the evenings, but feed they do, especially at Lake Orange.
