I was in Kroger’s this week and needed some butter. It was $4.79 a pound. Yikes! Just weeks ago, it was $2.99.
Must be Putin’s fault.
Friends, we’ve got some serious inflation underway in our grocery stores and people have to eat. I bought the butter anyway, but there are probably many who will have to do without.
We need a Superhero, like Superman, to fight the Evil Dr. Inflation. We need the Inflation Fighter, and here I am.
There are ways to do battle with insane prices. If we must pay $4.79 for butter, maybe there are other things we can save on and keep the grocery bill fairly stable. Like white bread. Bread is also through the roof, but not the store brands. They are within reason. Trouble is – they taste like store brands.
Most store brands are lower quality, not as fresh or moist nor as tasty as major brands. Kroger’s brand pretty much sucks – it’s stale and tasteless. Likewise, Wal-Mart. But not Food Lion. The Food Lion white bread is quite tasty, stays fresh longer and saves a ton of money. A loaf of Food Lion bread is just $1.99. So, if you bought that instead of paying $3.50 or more for Sara Lee, Wonder or another brand name, you could save enough to almost offset the cost of butter.
I enjoy grocery shopping, but I don’t enjoy paying exorbitant prices. The Inflation Fighter is here to save the day.
