Chips that were $2.99 a bag are now $4.49. Eggs are precious commodities, approaching $2.50 a dozen. That’s 20 cents for a single egg! But we’re not going to take this lying down. The Inflation Fighter is on the job.
We may not be able to buy a package of Lay’s Chips for a reasonable price, but we can offset some of these absurd price increases by buying in bulk – like at Costco and Sam’s Club. If you compare, bulk prices at the buying clubs are about the same as regular prices before inflation. Pork chops, for example. A bulk pack of center cut pork chops at Sam’s Club are $2.68 a pound. If you bought a smaller package at Kroger’s or Harris Teeter, it would run up to $2 or more per pound. So go to Sam’s, suck it up and buy in bulk.
Here is where Food Savers come in handy. Food Savers allow airtight storage when you buy in bulk and break down into smaller portions. The chops retain their freshness, they don’t have freezer burn and you can use them as needed. Obviously, you wouldn’t be able to buy everything in bulk every time but pick out one meat or one food per week, buy that and freeze the rest. In a few weeks, you’ll have your freezer well stocked with foods that are at reasonable prices.
So, take that, Dr. Evil Inflation!
