I planted a couple rows each of spring onions and sweet peas in my new enclosed garden. I call it La Cage Mahal, because it costs almost as much as the original Taj Mahal structure near New Delhi. But a miracle happened. The next day I looked out at my freshly tilled rows and they were still intact. Not a single onion bulb had been dislodged from its proper place and each and every pea was where I put them. In other words, La Cage had prevailed against the squirrels, and when the peas sprout, the rabbits will be unable to chew them back to the roots.
For the first time in – well ever – I am excited about planting a garden that will go undisturbed by groundhogs, deer, squirrels, raccoons and rabbits.
As I have mentioned, La Cage is a product of Deerbusters. Apparently, there are many, many other would-be gardeners who have seen the fruits of their labor eaten in one night by a herd of deer. These 6-foot cages will absolutely keep deer at bay, and if you cover the cage, squirrels can’t intrude, either.
Perhaps not everyone needs a completely enclosed garden – maybe just an 8×10 spot to grow a few tomatoes or melons. If so, check out Deerbusters.com
Deerbusters certainly delivers a quality product, and when we changed our minds about the gauge of wire for the cover, they gladly took it back, sent us new wire and gave us a refund.
Deerbusters makes a quality product and backs it up with excellent service – and that in itself is a real miracle.
