I had owned my Oster Bread Making Machine for a couple weeks before I realized that it did not necessarily have to take 3 ½ hours to bake a 2-pound loaf of bread. Upon further review of the instructions, I read that the machine had an Express Mode that took only 58 minutes to bake a loaf of traditional white bread.
“Probably sucks,” I thought.
But what the heck, all it would cost would be 4 cups of breads flour and a few ingredients to find out if the fast bread was edible.
Boy, is it. The Express White Bread is dynamite. Sweet, firm, bready, delicious.
Fellow cooks, you need one of these bread makers. This is a standard recipe, nothing fancy. Here’s how easy it is to make a loaf of homemade bread in less than an hour.
60 Minute White Bread
9 oz. water (room temperature)
2 T. butter (room temperature)
2 T. sugar
1 t. salt
3 c. bread flour
1 T. rapid rise yeast
Put water and butter in bread pan. Mix the above dry ingredients (except for the yeast) and dump into the liquid in the pan. Make a cone at the top and add the yeast. Insert the pan into bread machine. Set on express mode and hit start. In one hour your kitchen will smell like a bakery and you will be eating fresh, baked bread.
