Sometimes what you use to cook with is as important as the recipe with which you use to cook the dish. Electric skillets, for example. I have owned a series of electric skillets and found them useful when a larger surface area was needed – as in pan-frying fish or a large batch of squash and onions. Until recently, my electric skillets were poor quality overall. The non-stick surfaces sometimes allowed food to stick and the heat was concentrated above the oval element, meaning you may burn part of the dish and undercook the rest.
And cleaning? What a mess? The skillet was bigger than the sink and it was a chore to get all the grease off the legs and handle, so much so that I used an electric skillet only as a last resort.
Not any more.
My daughter Laura knew that I needed a decent skillet and gave me a Presto 05867 Foldaway Electric Skillet. This is an amazing piece of equipment.
For starters, it folds away. You can easily lift the fry pan from the rest of the apparatus and drop it in the dishwasher. When finished, the unit is very compact, because it folds away during storage, taking up a third less space than my previous fryers.
Best of all, the heavy duty surface distributes the heat evenly and it is definitely “non-stick.”
Food critics have given the Presto 06857 Electric Foldaway Skillet glowing reviews. It heats quickly and easily, cooks just as well as a stovetop frying pan, and is big enough to serve a large family. It can even serve as a backup oven – it can bake a cake, cook a roast or make a casserole. It’s ideal for pancakes, bacon for a crowd and French toast. The skillet is dishwasher safe and all the parts nestle together to make for a small storage footprint.
Tired of struggling to wash your current skillet? Try the Presto Foldaway and you’ll be hooked.
