Sometimes it takes a child or two in the house to remind us old fogies that food doesn’t have to be fancy to be enjoyed. And sometimes it’s nice to have fun things to eat. Like Pigs In A Blanket.
Pigs in a Blanket are – perhaps next to pizzas – among kids’ all time favorite meals. And they taste pretty good to adults, as well.
PIBs are nothing more than a hot dog and a slice of cheddar cheese nestled in a crescent roll and who doesn’t like foods like that? There’s not much to them, but I believe an Oscar Meyer Weiner and a slice of thin Sargento Cheddar Cheese make perfect fixing’s. Kroger’s, by the way, has an excellent crescent roll that is a little less than Pillsbury Crescent Rolls.
To make the perfect PIB, separate the crescent rolls into four sections and crimp the edges of the triangles to make one square. Pillsbury also makes whole sheets of their rolls, so you don’t have to pinch anything together, just cut off what you need from the roll. Flatten out the rolls, add a slice of thin Sargento cheese, an Oscar Meier Weiner, then roll up the pigs in a the blanket and crimp the edges. Bush generously with melted butter and bake in a 350 oven about 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. A little Dijon Mustard and a bag of Lays Potato Chips complete the package.
Enjoy!
