I did a piece on LouAna Vegetable Oil a few weeks back and I have since been casing the grocery stores, trying to track it down.
The only store that carries it, as best I can tell, is Food Lion and they only carry it in the small, 16-ounce size. It’s a little pricey that way, but it is worth keeping in the pantry.
If you compare LouAna to Wesson, Crisco and store brand oils, it is like night and day. The taste is very delicate, not overpowering. It is almost white in color, not yellow. It adds to any dish.
The other night, I used about a half bottle when frying some chicken. Boy, what great flavor. LouAna has a higher smoking point than other oils, so it fries foods better and it is purer.
I still use regular oils in baking mixes and such, but when a light flavor is important – it’s LouAna. Try it and you’ll agree.
