I was poking around in the meat department at Kroger’s and saw a pack of Hormel Diced Ham. I thought at the time I might use it in a breakfast omelet, but I never got around to it. One night for dinner, with nothing in particular in mind, I saw the pack of ham in the fridge and decided to use it. So I created a concoction of Ham, Noodles and Cheese and it was scrumptious – the ultimate in comfort food.
If Mac and Cheese is good, this is better, and the ham makes it almost an entire meal. Open a can of green beans, add a slice of fat back and you’re eating dinner.
This is a really easy recipe. Here’s how I did it.
First, boil a package of noodles, or a half package for just two. When the noodles are al dente, drain them, rinse and put in a casserole dish. Next, separate and add the ham (two packs if you’re feeding a crowd and use all the noodles). Add 1/2 C sour cream, 1/3 C milk, a touch of garlic powder, a little onion powder, salt and pepper to taste and 1 ½ C of sharp cheddar cheese. Blend well, cover with foil, and put in a 350 oven for 20 minutes. Remove the foil; sprinkle another half cup of the cheese on top and cook an additional 10 minutes.
Good stuff!
