I have an entire shelf in my basement devoted to items I have bought “As Seen On TV.” Somehow all these gizmos look good when the TV “carnies” are hustling the snake oil, but when you get them, they often don’t cut the mustard. It took me three days to chip the splattered egg from the inside of my microwave oven after trying my “As Seen On TV Egg Poacher”, for example.
However, when we were in Nags Head a few weeks back and browsing through Kitchen Collection (my favorite store at the beach), I saw a Red Copper Brownie Baker (As Seen On TV) that caught my eye. A family I am currently cooking for has three kids who love brownies and brownies are easy to make. They are even easier now that I have my “As Seen On TV” brownie baker.
First, I have found that all the Red Copper products are quality pieces of cookware, non-stick and built to take abuse. They are also dishwasher safe and easy to clean.
The brownie pan is a ceramic 9×13 pan with a separate brownie grid that automatically cuts and separates the brownies when you lift after cooking. It’s really easy and the brownies are cut perfectly when finished.
Simply mix the brownie batter, pour it in the pan, add the separator, bake, let cool and lift. Voila! No more crumbly brownies and no more brownies stuck to the pan.
You can order the pans on TV, on line or – and I highly recommend this method– drive to Nags Head, spend a few days at the beach, buy a brownie pan at Kitchen Collection and come home tanned, relaxed and rested. That, my friends, is a great recipe for brownie lovers everywhere.
Below is an actual recipe for brownies.
Betty Crocker Fudge Brownies (my favorites)
1 Box Betty Crocker Fudge Brownie mix
3 T water
½ C vegetable oil
2 eggs
Mix ingredients thoroughly and spread in (As Seen On TV) pan. Add brownie grid, bake 350 for about 25 minutes. Let cool, remove the grid, get a glass of milk and enjoy.
