Trader Joe’s is an interesting grocery store, but I rarely go. First, Stonefield Shopping Center is a pain – difficult to get in and out of and screwy parking. I also get claustrophobia in Trader Joe’s as hundreds of customers squeeze into a not very large grocery store.
But last week, Nancy and I went. A friend had given us a bottle of wine from Trader Joe’s called MoonX, a black Pinot Noir from California. I am anything but a wine snob, but this wine was the smoothest I’ve ever put in my mouth, so we went to Trader Joe’s to buy a case.
Customers were lined up – six feet apart – outside the store. Only 20 customers were allowed in at a time, so when we finally entered, there were no crowding issues. We bought our case of wine, plus some other Trader Joe goodies and were out of the store in 15 minutes.
Trader Joe’s is a chain of small grocery stores out of California. They first opened in 1967 and have since grown to over 500 stores nationwide. They are known for fresh, healthy food and competitive prices – like the MoonX wine. It is less than $7 a bottle, and there is no better in my humble opinion.
The wine is described as “Loaded with intense flavors of blackberries, black cherry and dark chocolate. MoonX is the perfect wine to enjoy with roasted meats, barbequed anything, chocolates or just by itself.”
I’m still not crazy about Stonefield Shopping Center, but as long as Trader Joe’s stocks their MoonX Pinot Noir, I’ll keep coming back.
If you enjoy an ultra-smooth red table wine, give it a try.
