Nancy and I didn’t have time to visit both the Creation Museum and Noah’s Ark, so we made the easy choice. Noah’s Ark. We arrived just before the 9 o’clock opening amid a long line of cars, but the check in went quickly and we were soon on a shuttle bus to see the Ark. Being a Theme Park, you can expect to pay for that privilege. It costs a little over $100 for parking and 2 tickets, and you will easily spend another hundred to see other features, to eat and to perhaps ride a camel. We didn’t. I’m not much of a Lawrence of Arabia type. We first watched a video to see how all this came about and it was fascinating. What a project. This duplicate Noah’s Ark is the largest timber framed structure in the world. The Ark has three floors, exactly like Noah’s craft, and there are stalls with animals and storage areas for grain and water, plus personal quarters for Noah and his family. Along the way, there are visuals of the bible from Creation to the Flood to Christ with quotes from the bible. It took us several hours to go through the ark and see all its marvels.
After that, we found a place to eat at the on-site Southwest Grill that had the best Beef Brisket Sandwich I have ever had – ever.
They also had lovely gardens and numerous live animals in natural settings. We saw camels, giraffes, lemurs, zebras, and lots of other exotic animals and birds. It was highly entertaining. There are numerous things for children including a state-of-the-art playground, rides, a zip-wire swing over the grounds, and a chance to pet a kangaroo or cuddle with a goat. Throughout the day, there are speakers and bands. At 4 PM, there was a concert featuring Jimmy Fortune of Statler Brothers fame.
For the all-day affair, they rent electric scooters for about $15 a day. I saw one woman get on one when we arrived, and she didn’t look handicapped. What a laze, I thought. When I saw her again later that afternoon, having walked several country miles, I was ready to push her out and take over. But Nancy wouldn’t let me. Ultimately, it was an event packed day. We left exhausted but thoroughly entertained.
