I ran into a neat product recently. I had never seen it before – Reynold’s Pre-Cut Aluminum Foil Sheets. I have been buying pre-cut parchment paper for baking for quite a while, but these aluminum sheets are truly handy.
Lots of times, you don’t need such a big piece of aluminum foul and it’s always the dickens to cut off the roll – usually tears away at the end, leaving you with odd shapes and a waste of foil. These aluminum sheets pop right up and they are there for the taking – a convenient size at 12 x 10.75 inches, and they are perfect to cover a cookie sheet pan.
Sometimes I want to cook a piece of toast in the oven for breakfast, which means dirtying up a pan or cutting a big piece of aluminum foil. Not anymore. Pull out a sheet, cook the toast on it and you’re in business. They are also an ideal size to wrap a sandwich, a slice of pizza or a bit of leftovers. It’s not the heavy duty foil, but they are pretty durable. The foil seals tightly to keep things fresh and odors down to a minimum. Great for lining pans for easier clean-up. And they are perfect for wrapping an ear of corn to toss on the grill.
I still keep a roll of heavy duty aluminum foil handy, but I use a lot less of it now that I have these pre-cut sheets.
I found mine at Wal-Mart. They run about $3 for 50 sheets. Try a pack.
