On a recent holiday occasion, we had a few friends drop by, I suppose we had 30 guests come and go. Along with a big bowl of jumbo shrimp and the usual spread of veggies, cheese, and fruits, we served an eye of round roast.
Eye of round is one of the tastiest cuts of beef, and it’s also one of the most reasonably priced. But it can be tough and chewy and must be sliced very thin.
No problem. I simply retrieved my Cuisinart 155 Food Slicer, put the cooked roast on the slicing board and quickly carved a huge pile of roast beef. Served on fresh rolls with horseradish sauce, the eye of round was a huge success.
Numerous times I have pulled out my food slicer to save the day. Not being handy with sharpening knives, and thus being a poor carver of meats, the slicer makes a tough job easy. With the turn of a lever, you can select exactly the thickness desired and cut meat into near see-through slices if necessary.
The Cuisinart is extremely handy for cutting country ham, which is also tough in thick slices, and it can carve a goose breast thin enough that the slices cook quickly and retain their juices: Meaning you can actually eat geese and enjoy them.
The Cuisinart Food Slicer is one of the neatest kitchen gadgets of all. Christmas is on the way. If you don’t have one in the house put it on your list.
