A year or so ago we remodeled our kitchen and bought new appliances. We wanted them white to match the cabinets. I also insisted on a ceramic stovetop to replace the outdated burner tops.
Bad move.
As we would quickly discover, white ceramic stovetops show everything – black, ugly marks appeared if the heat got even a little high and it was a pain to scrub and clean the tops – my job, since I had chosen the white ceramic monstrosity.
But a few weeks ago I made a visit to the Kitchen Outlet store in Nags Head and saw a gizmo called SkRapr that was supposed to help clean ceramic stove tops.
“Don’t buy that,” Nancy said as I put them in my basket. “It’ll end up as another useless gizmo.”
I have plenty of those, by the way. But I figured, what the hell, and I bought a pack, which had a small scraper and a larger one.
When we came home and got the frying pan out, voila – black marks on the stovetop. Then I remembered my SkRapr. I got the small one out, and the black stuff came off easily. Sometimes you have to use a little cleanser, but often the gunk just scrapes off. Wow! What a neat product.
The SkRaprs are dishwasher safe and can be used on pots, pans, ceramic surface, kitchen counter tops and glass top stoves.
They can also be used on hardwood flooring, windshields, indoor grills and much more.
They come two to a pack, one large 8-inch Skrapr and a smaller one about 4-inches. The smaller one actually works better on stovetops. Lots of stores carry them. They cost about $12. They are terrific and worth every penny.
