I have recently become a big fan of potato bread and rolls – made with potatoes and not wheat. I think I bought a bag of potato hamburger rolls by mistake and really liked them. It turns out, they have fewer calories than regular bread and as much, if not more flavor. They also have zero cholesterol.
One of my favorite buys is a package of Martin’s Party Rolls. The 15-oz. bag has 24 rolls – perfect with thin sliced country ham. I like them even better than Sister Schubert’s yeast rolls for country ham biscuits. I got some thin-sliced Kite’s Ham for Christmas and it is beyond yummy on the Martin’s Party Rolls.
The petite rolls are the perfect size for appetizers and party platters. They have a soft, buttery taste, and go especially well with chicken salad, egg salad, ham, and cheese. Made with non-GMO ingredients, the tasty party rolls also contain no high fructose corn syrup, artificial dyes, azodicarbonamide (ADA) or trans fats.
Three of the party rolls have only 140 calories combined, not bad for all the flavor. I have also been buying the hamburger roll size as well. They have only 130 calories per bun. If you can’t find the party roll size, the dinner rolls are as good, just a bit larger.
Martin’s is a family owned and operated consumer goods company headquartered in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. They are bread and roll manufacturers dedicated to extraordinary taste and quality.
Martin’s began their operation in the 1950s, in the heart of “Pennsylvania Dutch” country and in the kitchen of Lois and Lloyd Martin. It was there that they perfected their potato roll. In 1955, the Martin’s converted their garage into a small bakery and throughout the next twenty years, distribution grew from local farmers’ markets to corner grocery stores and on to supermarkets. The sweet, buttery taste, soft texture, and distinctive golden color made the Martin’s Potato Roll an instant favorite. The business eventually expanded into two commercial baking plants over the ensuing decades, and continues to dominate in the markets where it has established full distribution.
They are now available in most grocery stores throughout Virginia. Pick up a pack and try them. You may never go back to regular bread again.
