My go-to breakfast recently has been a thin slice of country ham on a potato roll slider bun with some melon on the side. Country ham, I’ve found, has a lot less calories than bacon or a slab of sausage, so I can eat that breakfast, get my meat and protein fix and still lose weight.
Not every grocery store stocks country ham for slicing, but I had stopped at the Food Lion Deli in Ruckersville and they had Hobe’s Country Ham in their meat counter.
I was familiar with Hobe’s. Several years ago I was cooking green beans for a family affair at Lake Norman and needed some ham seasoning. The Food Lion in Mooresville had Hobe’s, I bought some seasoning meat from them and it was the best I have ever used.
Hobe is a North Carolina company. They salt cure and age each ham for 90 days. The flavor is superb and each ham is ultra-high quality.
So I gladly bought a half-pound of the Hobe’s County Ham from Food Lion and had it sliced razor thin for my morning slider roll.
This ham is as good as it gets. Very lean, perfectly seasoned, not overly salty – just delicious.
Remember the name Hobe’s and if you ever see any of their country ham products, don’t hesitate to buy.
