On a recent visit to Sam’s Club, I ran across a product that’s worth mentioning. In this Corona madness we are now enduring, grocery supplies have been sporadic. Sometimes there’s hamburger, sometimes there’s not. I’m not a great fan of frozen hamburgers and patties, but I figured it would do in a pinch if I needed ground beef. I saw a product called Chop House Chuck and Beef Brisket Steak Burger by Holten that caught my eye. I have had beef brisket burgers before and they were very good, so I bought a pack. A week or so later, I decided to put a few burgers on the grill for a quick and easy dinner and used four of the Chop House burgers.
Friends, they were incredible – didn’t taste like frozen burgers at all and had as much flavor as the ten dollar burgers you’d order in a restaurant. The blend of chuck and brisket was awesome – premium restaurant-quality burgers.
Holten Meats is based in Sauget, Illinois near the famed stockyards. They use butcher grinds rather than smashing and compressing their beef for a flavor-packed product. The burgers are minimally processed.
On my next trip to Sam’s, they weren’t available, but I’ll be on the watch for them.
Check the frozen section of your grocery store and you may find this Holten product. If you do – trust me on this one – buy it.
