My Nancy likes popcorn, often on a Sunday afternoon while she’s watching a Hallmark Movie or busy wrapping presents. She wraps a lot of presents. Somehow, I have earned the honor of being Chief Popcorn Popper. I figure if she’ll do all the laundry and keep the house in order, making a batch of popcorn is the least I can do.
Usually, I retrieve the old Whirly-Pop Popcorn Popper from the basement and use that, though it’s something of a pain to wash and you absolutely cannot put it in the dishwasher.
Before Christmas, I saw an Ecolution Micro-wave 3-Quart Popper online and ordered one. It was about twenty bucks.
If it worked, it would sure be a lot easier to use and clean.
It worked!
Soon after Christmas, Nancy placed an order for her Sunday afternoon popcorn. I poured some corn in the lid measure, put it in the micro-wave for about 2 1/2 minutes and it was ready, A neat feature is you can put a wedge of butter on the porous lid, and it drips and coats the corn as it pops. Best of all, you just put it in the dishwasher when you’re through.
Last Sunday, I received another popcorn order, carefully poured the corn in the popper, then being the idiot that I am, I put the popper on the stove top. When I saw red plastic goo oozing all over the stove, I realized what I had done. I had ruined our new “microwave-only” popper. So, I made a batch in the old Whirley-Pop and ordered another Ecolution popper. It came today and I’m pretty sure I’ll never put this one on a stove top again.
