One drawback of being a high handicap golfer such as yours truly is the propensity to spend lots of time in the high grass and along wood edges looking for wayward balls. Two weeks ago, I was doing just that when my left forearm came in contact with a three-leaf monster called poison ivy. I usually don’t get poison ivy, or if I do it’s a mild case. But I had been scratching at that arm for several days, which was like tilling fertile soil and inviting a weed to stop by.
The next day, a bubble emerged, followed by another, and another, and soon a whole covey of sores had blossomed. I was itching so badly I could hardly sleep. That night, I dreamt that Bo Derek was scratching my arm, but when I wakened, it was me doing all the scratching – and the itching.
The next morning, I went to my go-to itch medicine – Melaleuca Oil. It helped, but not much. I tried mometasone furoate cream. It helped, but not much.
I was at the point of gnawing my arm off like a fox caught in a trap, when I saw a bottle of Blue Stop beside my chair. I use this on occasion for joint pain, and it helps some, though not as much as three Ibuprofen and a glass of ice water. But I knew the stuff had menthol and it might feel good, so I squirted some on my arm, rubbed it in, and the itch went away immediately. Poof. Gone.
I used the stuff twice a day for a couple of days and my itching went away totally and the sores dried up.
Wow!
Blue Stop uses the modern patch technology where a product is absorbed into the skin and gets down to the root of the problem. It is intended for joint and muscle pain, but it sure did a number on my poison ivy.
Blue Stop was invented by a Texas surgeon. The topical analgesic product is soothing and deep penetrating, a special mixture of Cetylated Fatty Acids, Emu Oil, MSM, Glucosamine, Aloe Vera and Menthol. It was designed to help deliver fast and effective relief for overall body aches.
If you are susceptible to poison ivy or other skin rashes and itching, get yourself a bottle of Blue Stop. It comes in a 16-ounce squirt bottle. You can get it at Sam’s for about $24. I would have paid ten times that much to stop the itching. It sure worked for me, and it’s almost as good as having Bo Derek scratch your arm for you.
