I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed Mother’s Day this year and to thank my husband publicly. My husband, Jim, pays attention when I drop hints for birthdays and Christmas. Mother’s Day was no exception, thank goodness. I love to work in our yard, it’s great exercise and therapy for the soul. The outcome is a real gift for us. Because we have so many mature maple trees, there are always limbs and twigs to collect and this year billions of their helicopters or seed pods have taken root in all of our flower beds, guaranteeing job security.
Jim loves to feed the birds and saves the bags for me to dispose of the treasurers I find in the yard. These bags, while useful, sit in our landfills and do not disintegrate. What did my husband find for me? The greatest oversized, double strength paper bags that stand on their own!
I LOVE THEM!! And I looking forward to using them, I decided to trim our forsythia. This was no small feat. Thinking this would be a huge undertaking for my new bags, I would purchase a Sun Joe Electric chipper for residential use. I learned a valuable lesson; don’t trim more than you can take care of. The chipper tried it’s best but the job was too mammoth and it would have taken me a full week to ground all my trimmings. Out comes one of my new bags to the rescue and I could not believe how much I could get in it. So much so, I couldn’t lift it. We had a gentleman trim some dead limbs from our old maples and I begged him to take my trimmings. Lesson learned. One day I’ll tell you about a birthday gift Jim gave me and I still love, it’s called a weed eater. No sissy lingerie for me. Thanks Honey!
