It’s always refreshing to see a new, small business opening. It’s a sign that the entrepreneurial spirit is still alive and well in America. One such business opened recently in the Food Lion Shopping Center on Rt. 29 in Ruckersville – Randy’s Hardware. In a world of Lowe’s and Home Depot’s, Randy’s Hardware is set to compete.
I poked my nose in the door recently to check it out and was glad to find some bird seed at a competitive price. Since Randy’s is on the way home from work, it’ll be much more convenient for me than a trip to Lowe’s or Wal-Mart, and the prices seemed most reasonable.
While there, I was approached by a nice young man to see if I needed any help. How often does that happen at the Big Box stores? Not much.
Randy’s Hardware is a small chain of mini-hardware stores, started by Randy Andes in Timberville, VA in 2001. They now also have stores in Harrisonburg, Mount Jackson, Bridgewater and Ruckersville. The store was clean, neat, organized and well-stocked.
I wish them every bit of success and plan to spend a good bit of my hardware store dollars at this local business. Store hours are 7 to 7 M-F, 8-7 Saturday and 9-5 on Sundays. The address is 148 Cedar Grove Rd., Ruckersville (434-481-1794)
Randy’s Hardware. Check them out.
