We have a gizmo in our Whirlpool refrigerator called a Meat and Cheese Tray. It’s pretty handy and a convenient storage spot for – yes – meat and cheese. It can also slide sideways on the shelf to create room, where needed. The other day, I attempted to slide it to the right, but a pot I didn’t see in the back was in the way and the little bracket at the top snapped.
No problem. I can fix that. So I got out a small tube of Super Glue and proceeded to permanently glue the tip of my forefinger to the tip of my thumb, and the bracket was still broken.
Humbly, I called Karen at Doug’s Maytag and explained my problem. She said she’d get back to me and that afternoon she called and said she had found the part and did I want to fix it myself or have them come out. Looking down at the raw and abraded skin on my thumb and forefinger where I had finally been able to unglue my fingers, I asked her to please send someone out.
She said she’d call when the part arrived and arrange a delivery and repair.
Can you imagine getting that done at a Big Box Store?
It is certainly nice to have a local appliance store that gives friendly, personal service. We will continue to use and only buy our appliances from the fine folks at Doug’s Maytag.
