Fifty years is a long time to be in business, particularly for a restaurant, as few make it to even five years. Yet, 50 years ago George Spathos, an immigrant from Greece, started the Aberdeen Barn, serving the finest Angus Steaks, Roast Beef, Seafood and more. They still do.
The Aberdeen Barn is a Charlottesville institution. Businessmen know that when it’s time to seal the deal, there is no better venue than The Barn, and it’s same with families and couples celebrating special events or anniversaries.
The secret to the longevity and success of this great restaurant has been consistency.
Head Chef, Robert Johnson, and Assistant Chef, Curtis Burton, combine for over 70 years of service. Some of the wait staff have logged over 35 years in service. When you order a medium rare steak from the Aberdeen Bar, that’s what you’ll get. Every single time.
The Barn has also become a favorite waterhole for residents and UVA alumni returning back to C’ville for a home game or reunion. The Barn has the finest wine list in town, along with great service.
Terry and Angela Spathos are now in charge of The Barn and one is always around to make sure your service and experience is a spot on. There is no comparison between a restaurant with a non-present owner versus one with the boss in the building.
My wife and I recently celebrated her birthday and we wanted a first class dinner. That’s why we went to The Barn, truly Charlottesville’s finest steakhouse.
