Every year about this time, my friend Capt. Allen Caine sends pictures and accounts of some of the best fishing in the world. While Allen and his clients are battling 40 pound redfish on fly rods in balmy 70-degree Louisiana weather, we’re up here dodging snowstorms. It doesn’t seem fair.
I can’t imagine a more exciting adventure than to sight fish in shallow water with Capt. Allen. Why not treat yourself? Call or email him and arrange a trip.
Below is his recent report:
I’m currently down in Louisiana for my annual 3 month guide season for giant adult redfish. I just wanted to send out a quick fishing report, and let you know of a few last minute openings down here.
It was a tough November due to constant wind, rain, and dirty water. We had some great weather days mixed in but it was not the normal November weather here.
The last 2 weeks, the weather has stabilized much more. We’re still getting some windy days, but the water is much cleaner and fishing is significantly better.
Targeting these 20-40 lb. redfish and black drum in less than 2 feet of water is some of the most exciting sight fishing with fly or light spin tackle you can do in the US. They are very unpressured compared to East Coast or Florida redfish, and will eat most any lure or fly you put in their face.
I just have a few last minute openings for December and January. Let me know if you’re interested or have any questions about fishing here. I also have a few other guides here I work with if you wanted to bring some friends down for a group trip.
I attached some pictures below to give you an idea of the size class of the fish we have caught over the last few weeks.
I’ll be back to guiding in NC from February-October and will send out a fishing report for there once I’m back.
I look forward to seeing you all on the water again soon and hope you have a great Christmas.
Thanks,
Capt. Allen Cain
