Sometimes you just want a good sandwich. Maybe one you don’t often eat at home. That’s when you head out to eat at a good sandwich joint. Years ago, it used to be Sloan’s. Boy did they ever had good Sammies.
Today, it’s Timberwood Grill.
When you’re talking sandwiches – burgers don’t count, and ordinary stuff like Chicken and Tuna Salad and Turkey Clubs you can easily make at home.
The three great, eat-out sandwiches are Philly Cheesesteak, Pastrami Reubens and French Dip Roast Beef, which Timberwood aptly calls The Hercules – thinly sliced roast beef, truffle horseradish mayo, and melted Swiss cheese all piled onto a toasted sub roll and served with homemade French Onion soup for dipping.
Their Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches have a huge sub roll stuffed full of sliced sirloin, white American cheese, sauteed onions, mushrooms, peppers, and mayo.
My favorite, and the one I finally chose last Sunday night (after much struggling with choices) was the Pastrami Reuben with sauerkraut, double the Swiss cheese, piled high pastrami and homemade thousand island dressing on grilled rye.
Uhm, uhm, good!
