Just west of the small town of Lewisburg, WVA on Rt. 219 is one of the world’s best places to eat a hot dog. I should know, because I grew up in Lewisburg and spent many an hour at the old drive in. Back in the early 60’s, we would go to Jim’s, order a couple dogs all the way with an order of fries and a frosty mug of root beer and have change left over from a dollar bill. Prices have gone up since then but the hot dogs are as good as ever.
Two things that make their dogs stand out: the chili and the slaw. Both are homemade and make the perfect combination to compliment what I think are just ordinary Jessie Jones franks. But they are the best, worth a visit if you’re in that neck of the woods.
Jim’s also carries the typical menu of a drive-in restaurant with burgers, barbeque, grilled cheese, tuna and chicken salad plus some serious entrees, but it’s the dogs you want if you stop by.
Jim’s Drive-In. Great memories, great food.
