I know of a great place to eat breakfast, maybe the best breakfast you’ve ever eaten. Trouble is, you have to go to Waikiki Beach to eat there. But there are worse things, right?
When Nancy and I went on our Hawaiian Cruise last March, our daughter Laura insisted that we eat breakfast at a place called Eggs ‘n Things. They had a breakfast bar set up in our hotel, but on the strength of Laura’s recommendation, we checked it out. We got there at 7 am and there was a long line spilling out of the restaurant onto Kalakaua Avenue.
“We’ll only be in Hawaii a week,” I told Nancy. “Maybe we should go someplace else?”
Nancy then said Laura had warned her about the lines, but not to worry, they moved quickly.
And they did. They actually take your order when you’re standing in line and you are served within minutes of seating. The breakfast was simply excellent.
Their melons and fruits, of course, are picked fresh daily, so you can’t beat the fruit bowls. Other intriguing items include Rib Eye Steak and Eggs, Pineapple Plantation Pork Chop & Eggs, Island Portuguese Sausage & Eggs, Spam & Eggs (yes, that Spam. Hawaiians love it), Hawaii Acai Bowl, Macadamia Nut Pancakes and much, much more. Their basic meat ‘n egg platters come with 2 fresh hen eggs from then islands, rice or home fries or three buttermilk pancakes. The pancakes are scrumptious and super fluffy. Tons better than I-HOP. And the Kona coffee alone is worth the price of admission.
If you are ever in Honolulu, this is one place you absolutely need to visit. It will be one of my first stops when we go again this November.
