My Eatin’ Out column is getting a little stale. That’s because – other than a drive-thru window – there is no place to eat out. They’ve closed them all. I, for one, will be super excited when the ban is lifted and it makes me wonder – just where will I choose to eat out the first time they reopen?
Maybe Carmello’s. Now, with Travinia’s closed, Carmello’s is our new favorite go-to Italian restaurant. Good Italian is one of those hard-to-prepare dishes at home. Face it, Italian’s have the edge when it comes to great pasta and veal dishes. So it may be Carmello’s.
Then again, how can you beat a bowl of Bang-Bang Shrimp and a piping hot order of Fish and Chips. The Bonefish Grill might well be our first choice for an evening out experience.
Another place I wouldn’t have considered just a few months ago is the Texas Roadhouse. I would order the Rib Eye Steak and Shrimp Combo with a crisp Caesar Salad. I can’t wait to eat there again.
Or maybe, since a reopening of the restaurants would indeed be a special occasion, I may just make reservations at the Ivy Inn where everything they serve is special. I may order their Shrimp & Grits, or perhaps Grilled Rockfish or a Filet on Whipped Garlic Potatoes. At the Ivy Inn, you can’t go wrong.
In the meantime – so that there will still be restaurants in business – patronize them with a take-out order. Local restaurants do and will need our support.
