Great Italian food in Covington? Absolutely. Coming into town on East Madison Street is a restaurant with a large parking lot called Cucci’s Pizzeria. The place serves generous portions of authentic Italian cuisine at reasonable prices. It’s a top-notch place to stop for a bite, whether for lunch or dinner.
Nancy and I found ourselves heading home from a stay at Cliff View Inn one evening and stopped at Cucci’s. We nicknamed it Hoochie-Cucci’s. The parking lot was jammed full, always a good sign for eating out. Nancy ordered Lasagna and I went for a Cucci Special, an Italian sandwich. The meal was delightful.
Cucci’s offers an all-you- can-eat salad bar and it was excellent – crisp veggies, a nice assortment and a perfect complement to any Italian dish.
The menu at Cucci’s is extensive. Sandwiches include Hoagies, Steak and Cheese, Tuna, Eggplant Parmigiana, Cucci Specials, Chick Parm, Cucci Clubs and many others. They serve traditional Italian dishes such as Spaghetti and Eggplant Parmesan but their specialty is pizza, both traditional Italian and Sicilian. They also do Calzones. Everything I’ve had at Cucci’s has been excellent.
Cucci’s offers a wide assortment of beers, but no cocktails. The last time we ate there, the wine list was pretty bleak. But it’s their food you want, not the spirits.
Cucci’s is closed on Sunday but open from 11 am till 10 on other days.
To get to the restaurant, take the first Covington Exit off I-64 heading west, take a left on E. Madison and it’s about a half mile up the road on the right. The GPS address is 566 E. Madison Street and the phone number is (540) 962-3964for call-in orders or information. The service is friendly and efficient, so it’s a quick in and out if you’re on the road.
Next time you’re in that area, give Cucci’s a try.
