Where shall we eat out tonight? Well, nowhere. Nothing is open except for a handful of drive-throughs. Even Bo Do’s has resurrected their drive through windows after years of inside service only.
When anyone – student or otherwise – returns to Charlottesville after an extended absence, their first stop is often Bodo’s. I know that my daughter, Laura, looks forward to a Bodo’s bagel every time she visits. She practically lived on them when a student at UVA.
Bodo’s has been a Charlottesville institution since 1988 when Brian Fox, a come-here Yankee from Vermont, opened his business. Bodo’s became as much a culture phenomenon as an eatery, but everyone admits that Bodo’s has truly mastered the art of bagel-ry. They are sensational with an almost endless supply of options.
Somehow, you know the world will be okay as long as you can have a Bodo’s bagel.
