I am still enjoying my Christmas tree. Really.
No, it’s not decorated and clad in lights and ornaments. It’s a little, brown, actually, and sitting beside our patio firepit. I clip off the dry branches and limbs, put them in the bottom of the firepit when I’m ready for a fire, light it with a piece of newspaper and “Whoosh!” It’s up in flames. The dried branches and twigs make excellent kindling, and they’ll start a fire out of logs that have been soaking in water for a month. Well, maybe not a month, but they’ll get a fire going for sure.
At the end of the season, when the branches have all been plucked off, I’ll burn the main stem as a firepit log and think back at the Christmas past and the one to come.
Christmas trees are too valuable to only use once. Next year, save yours.
