The 32ndAnnual Western Virginia Sport Show is coming up on Feb 22-24 at the Augusta Expo in Fishersville.
For over 30 years, Mark Hangar and family have featured some of the best displays and the biggest names in the hunting and outdoor world. This year looks to be more of the same.
From the heart of Montana’s secluded Yaak River Valley, Tom Oar has made a home for himself far removed from the hustle of modern life. With his wife Nancy by his side, he survives by trapping, harvesting his own meat and tanning hides. As time catches up with him, every day in this rugged mountain scape presents new challenges for the aging cowboy.
Mike Stroff will also be on the stage. Mike comes from a family that has been in the hunting industry for more than 40 years. His family has owned and operated a number of commercial hunting lodges in different parts of the country over the years and Mike currently is the managing partner of their outfitting businesses in Texas and South Dakota.
The Welde family’s pets are cuddly, cute, furry, and quite lovable. But they are definitely not your average pets. The Welde’s, however, have made their bears their pets. These pets range in size from 200-lbs. to 1200-lbs. and are seen at fairs, festivals, theme parks, corporate outings and many other events. Come and meet the family bears.
Other noted guests and celebrities include Ron Laeggett, South Dakota outdoorsman, Wildlife Artist Jack Paluh, Capt. Tom Wagner, a charter captain from the Outer Banks, Howard and Jason Caldwell with “Raptors Up Close”, Neil Selby, Nationally Known Dog Trainer and others.
In addition there will be a turkey calling contest, a big buck contest, an indoor archery shoot, plus a chance to meet and greet the guides and exhibitors.
Ticket prices are $9 for 12 yrs. and older; $4 for those from 5 to 11 years and free for 4 and under. Show hours are Friday, Feb. 22 from11 AM – 8:30 PM; Saturday, Feb. 23 from 10 AM – 8:30 PM; and Sunday, Feb. 24 from 12 PM – 5:30 PM
Grace Bible Camp will have a food booth open outside the expo center during the Western Virginia Sports Show. This food booth is a fundraiser to help children in our area come experience a week of camp regardless of the amount their family can pay. They will be selling country ham sandwiches, pizza, hot dogs, chili, loaded potato soup as well as hot beverages, canned drinks, water bottles, chips and candy bars.
It looks like another great show. Come out, meet the guides and book a trip of a lifetime.
