It’s Sunday. There’s still an afternoon left in the weekend, but what to do?
Nancy and I have found through the years that an hour-long drive across the mountain to Mount Crawford near Weyer’s Cave ends up in a most pleasant afternoon experience at Cross Keys Vineyards. The scenic Shenandoah Valley destination offers delicious food, delightful wines and great entertainment.
The June schedule for entertainers at Cross Keys looks like this:
June 9, Gabby Hayes; June 16, Jimmy O; June 23, Matthew Mozingo; and June 30, Randy Black. The free entertainment is from 1 to 4 every Sunday, and the restaurant and wine tasting room is open for business.
Another fun event for June is Salsa Under the Stars, with salsa, dancing instruction, food and wine. Tickets are $10 per person and the hours are from. 5:45 till 10:45. Sounds like fun.
Cross Keys Vineyards is located at 6011 E. Timber Ridge Road, Mt. Crawford. The first vines were planted here in 2001 and the first wines were bottled in 2006. The scenery and vineyards are spectacular.
