I don’t go to many movies. That’s because there aren’t many movies I care to see.
Last weekend, I went to see a movie called “Overcomer”. It’s one of the best movies I’ve seen in my life.
Let me start off by telling you what you won’t see. You won’t see any sex or really anything remotely sexy. You won’t see any inane cartoon characters voiced over by Hollywood stars. You won’t see body parts being blown up or fiery explosions. You won’t hear a single curse word.
But you will laugh out loud, you will be suspended at times on the edge of your seat and you will cry. If you teared up even slightly at Ol’ Yeller, you’ll need an entire box of tissues for this film. It tugs at the heart.
The movie is centered around the life of a family which teaches, coaches and plays sports for a Christian Academy. That’s right, Christian. You don’t hear much about those folks in the movie industry. Hollywood is above all that, you know. They prefer films about deviant behavior, smart-mouth children and walking zombies – not everyday people.
The acting in this non-Hollywood produced masterpiece is superb. The sound and the photography were spot on. The background music was uplifting. The characters were perfectly defined and well casted. The movie flowed with no lulls and the excitement was intense.
Really, it is one of the best films I’ve ever seen.
If you go to just one movie this year, or ever, for that matter, make it the “Overcomer”.
Five stars!
