Faithful CvilleBuzz reader, Bob Huff, noted that his wife, Doris, thought the Betty Crocker mix for sugar cookies was better than Krusteaze – which I think are among the best sugar cookies I’ve ever put in my mouth. I was skeptical, but suggested that Bob arrange a bake-off to determine which indeed was the best sugar cookie mix – Betty Crocker or the Vanilla Butter Sugar Cookie mix from Krusteaze.
Below is Bob’s blow-by-blow account of the great Sugar Cookie Bake Off.
“As I mentioned, Doris was not convinced Krusteaze sugar cookies were as good as Betty Crocker, so we decided to have a bake off. It wasn’t easy, but the bakeoff is now complete! The hardest part was just finding the Krusteaze Vanilla Butter Sugar Cookie mix here in Florida: Nothing at Wal-Mart or Publix, and Amazon.com was way too expensive. We finally found it at Big Lots.”
(Ed. Note: Locally, Kroger’s sells all the Krusteaze mixes)
“Then, it was to the kitchen where Doris started baking while my sister, her daughter and I waited in the living room. The smell was great. Doris put two plates and glasses of milk in front of the three of us and the taste test began. After lots of chatter about fluffiness, over or under baking and pallet cleansing, Krusteaze was declared the winner by a 2 to 1 margin!
Actually, I am the winner… I now have a ton of sugar cookies to eat.”
