It’s your last meal and the warden says you can have a fast-food hamburger. What’s it going to be?
“You deserve a break today,” from McDonalds.
“Have it your way,” at Burger King.
“All kinds of good stuff,” from Hardee’s.
Or, “Where’s the beef” at Wendy’s.
Seriously, if you only had one choice, what would it be?
The Big Mac from McDonald’s would have to be a contender. It’s been around a while, you know. Introduced in 1967, everybody knows that a Big Mac has two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, pickles and onions on a sesame seed bun. In the United States alone, over 560 million Big Macs are sold each year.
But then, “The Whopper” at Burger King has had a good run. First offered in 1957, the Whopper is also a burger lover’s favorite with a flame grilled quarter-pound beef patty, sesame seed bun, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, and sliced onion – or have it your way with one or three patties and hold the pickles.
Wendy’s has also served up a burger or two. These “old fashioned burgers” were first sold by Dave Thomas in 1969. If you like your burgers square, it’s a no brainer. Wendy’s uses only fresh burger and square patties that hand over the edge of a circular bun, and washed down with a Frosty, of course.
My choice among all these great choices is a Thick Burger from Hardee’s. While all the world was clamoring for healthier fast-food options, Hardee’s said, “To hell with that. We’re known for hamburgers. Let’s do it right, and The Thickburger was born. This monster of a burger is charbroiled, a good start, and features a Black Angus Beef Patty, 4 strips of bacon, 3 slices of melted American cheese, mayo, red onions, mustard, and ketchup, and a toasted potato bun.
I’ll have one of those, some Curly Fries, and a Diet Pepsi. That’s my choice.
What’s yours?
